Orshaw said that when Henry Ford II took over his father’s empire in 1946, the Ford company was losing $10 million a month. Eight years later, Ford was the hottest-selling car on the market. The Edsel was conceived to get into the middle-class market which in the early 1950s was held by Buick, Oldsmobile and Pontiac, Orshaw said.

Fostoria Glass Co., because of the quality of its glass, is one of the few chosen by the Henry Ford Museum to reproduce some of the Sandwich glass from the original Sandwich glass molds.
